After growing up on a horse and cattle ranch in Millboro, South Dakota, Dr. Jody Hanson attended South Dakota State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science. Pursuing his love of animals and science, he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University in 2000. 

Jody joined Deer Creek Animal Hospital with more than 13 years of experience in emergency and small animal medicine. He has a strong interest in abdominal ultrasound and pain relief for older pets.

Jody has two boxers and a golden retriever, Brendal, Rayland, and Baxter. He also has a cat named Gooey and a quarter horse named Tigre. When not at the hospital, Jody enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking, fly fishing, and horse training.
