Dr. Lisk was born and raised in North Carolina. As a young boy, Dr. Lisk was always fascinated by animals. He had a variety of pets from hamsters and turtles to dogs and cats. While in high school, he worked part time at a local veterinary clinic and it was from that experience he decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Lisk received his undergraduate degree in zoology from North Carolina State University in 1980 and his doctorate in veterinary medicine from The Ohio State University in 1984. Following graduation from veterinary school, he completed a one-year Internship in small animal medicine and surgery at The Animal Medical Center in New York City before moving to Texas.

Prior to opening his own small animal practice in 1990, Dr. Lisk worked as an associate veterinarian for a variety of animal hospitals in Connecticut, New York, and Texas. He enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine, including complex feline internal medicine cases, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and practice management.
