Originally from Southern California, Dr. Steele attended the University of California at Berkeley for undergraduate studies where he earned his degree in Natural Resource Economics.  He then completed a veterinary degree at U.C. Davis in 1997, followed by a Masters degree in Veterinary Public Health in 1998. While at U.C. Davis, Dr. Steele met his wife Sophie (also a veterinary doctor) who is originally from France. They have two children, Colin and Sam, and a rotating menagerie of pets including Maggie, Captain, Jerry, and Tsonga.

Dr. Steele began his career as a veterinary doctor in the San Francisco Bay Area.  After marrying, the Steele’s spent a year traveling and participating in veterinary research projects in southern Africa.  In 2002, Dr. Steele took on the construction of a state-of-the-art animal hospital in North County.  In late 2005, Dr. Steele sold his hospital to a partner in order to allow more time with his young family, as well as the opportunity to seek out new personal and professional endeavors.

In 2012, Dr. Steele and his partners Dr. Andrew McClellan and Dr. Jon Reuter opened Torrey Pines Animal Hospital in Carmel Valley. Their goal is to offer the highest quality Veterinary care in a friendly, state of the art hospital. They hope to become a unique and one of a kind veterinary hospital in the San Diego community.

Dr. Steele has a special interest in working with service dogs, and has a long relationship providing medical and surgical care to local service dog organizations including: Canine Companions for Independence, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and several local police departments. Wildlife and Exotic Animal medicine is another area of interest for Dr. Steele which has taken him as far as Africa, South America, and Australia.  In San Diego, he has worked extensively with Project Wildlife, the San Diego House Rabbit Society, and several other wildlife rescue organizations. When he is not working as a veterinarian, Dr. Brad spends his time surfing, cycling, fishing, and pursuing his passion for travel.
