Alan Geller, DVM

Alan Geller, DVM

Dr. Alan Geller may be the newest member of Acacia Animal Health Center, but he brings more than 30 years of experience as a small animal veterinarian in Escondido. As former owner of Animal Medical Hospital of Escondido, Dr. Geller treats dogs and cats. He has a particular interest in small animal surgery, infectious disease and preventative medicine.

A native of Colorado, Dr. Geller decided to become a veterinarian when he was ten years old, and never wanted to do anything else. After growing up in Denver, he attended Colorado State University at Fort Collins and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology. After two years working as a Research Associate in the Colorado State Microbiology Department, he entered the School of Veterinary Medicine where he earned his doctorate.

In 1981, he left the winters of Colorado for San Diego, and settled in North County. He enjoys playing the guitar, practicing martial arts, skiing, and fishing. He hikes often through the local mountains with his dog Zack. He lives in Escondido with his lovely wife Kate and their teenage daughter Michelle. His family also consists of two cats, four exotic reptiles and a horse.

Dr. Geller has an ongoing commitment to continuing education. He attends a major veterinary conference every year and goes to numerous locally offered veterinary seminars. He is especially interested in helping clients prolong the lives of their pets with the latest research and medical techniques.

Dr. Geller’s mantra is "Our pets need love, exercise, and food…in that order."
