Dr. Whala attended high school and community college in Reedley. Before attending UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, she was an assistant pathologist at VMC, a QA at Zacky/Foster Farms, and a vet tech at UC Davis. Dr. Whala has been a part of Pet Medical Center and Spa since April 2007. Karen is married to Arron, and has three stepchildren, Katie, Shelby, and Codi. Dr. Whala has one dog, Skeeter (Terrior mix). Dr. Whala loves gardening, hobby farming (if she had one), watching HGTV, studying Internet cases and traveling. Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Whala’s interests included traveling, petting zoos, endurance riding/western competition, and reading.
