Dr. Melissa Gillock was born and raised in central Oklahoma. She spent four years in San Antonio, Texas, earning her undergraduate degree in biology from Trinity University. After working in research labs throughout college, she decided to pursue her original childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian and returned to her home state, receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University in the spring of 2011. Her professional interests include ophthalmology and internal medicine.

Dr. Gillock joined Rose Rock Veterinary Hospital in June of 2011, shortly after marrying her husband Richard and settling in Norman. Their family consists of Samson the rescued mutt, Frito the Chihuahua, and a tortoiseshell cat named Junebug. In addition to spending time with her critters, Dr. Gillock enjoys running, hiking, reading, knitting, traveling, playing the piano, and going on walks with Richard and the dogs. Dr. Gillock is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, and Central Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association.
