"Dr. Mike" grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Maryland, her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech) in 1996, and completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at the University of Missouri-Columbia Veterinary Teaching Hospital (Mizzou) in 1997.

Even the most nervous and anxious of breeds can be attended to at Cat Care of Vinings, no matter how serious the condition.  I believe cats require special emotional support in addition to traditional, species-specific medical care. Cat Care of Vinings is a place where cats can be treated and handled with dignity and specific attention to their unique physiology and psyche.

I feels it is important to live a life of daily service whether at the practice or not--my personal interests include working to improve the quality of life for feral animals, neglected pets and wildlife around the world through several rescue organizations including the ASPCA, Good Mews Animal Foundation, and local shelters and rescue orgainizations. We offer free spay/neuter services to these rescue orgainizations monthly and "first visit to the veterinarian" as a free exam for people who adopt a rescued cat or kitten. The cats and kittens did not ask for this.  We want to support new owners who have chosen to rescue one of these little ones in need.

This is our way of ensuring we play a vital part in starting new owners off with support as they start a long journey and commitment to their new baby.  I am highly committed to community and personal service to others; I feels it is an essential part of a complete and balanced life.  One of my favorite reflections was spoken many years ago by Winston Churchill:

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
