Dr. Tom LoBasso D.V.M., PC

Known as much for his gregarious nature and sharp wit as for the love of animals, Dr. Tom LoBasso assumed the position of Medical Director of the Cobble Hill Animal Clinic from the retiring Dr. Maddox in November of 2008. Born in Manhattan, and reared in Brooklyn, it was a homecoming of sorts for Tom and he is excited to once again be part of the Brooklyn community.
Prior to his return, Tom had been a full-time practitioner in Manhattan for the better part of two decades.

Dr. LoBasso graduated from Xaverian High School in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and with his heart already set on becoming a veterinarian, went on to New York University to obtain his Bachelors of Arts degree in Biology. He subsequently went on to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University where he was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1992.

With professional interests ranging from allergies to zoonoses, and a love of general medicine and surgery, Tom regularly attends veterinary continuing education conferences including the monthly Veterinary Medical Association of New York City lectures.

Although Tom's duties at the Cobble Hill Animal Clinic keep him busy, he has several out-of-work interests. His most recent endeavor has him becoming an " accidental snowboard daredevil " during the colder months. In the warmer months, you'll most
likely find Tom fishing our local waters, almost always practicing catch-and-release, except for that one nice striped bass every fall.

However, when not tearing down the slopes or casting into a school of fish, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife, Jeanne,  their English Bulldog, and of course, "Stewart", their Domestic Short Hair cat.
