Dr. Heather Meyers

Dr. Heather Meyers

Dr. Meyers is a resident of Waxhaw where she lives with her husband, two children, two dogs (Kyra and Malone), two cats (Scooter and Ty) and two horses (Mini and Gryffin). Carolina Pets Animal Hospital is Dr. Meyers’ dream to provide Union County with the highest quality veterinary services in a family atmosphere.

Dr. Meyers’ special interests are internal medicine, geriatric medicine, critical care, ultrasound, endoscopy and acupuncture. She is a member of the AVMA, NCVMA, IVAS and Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. Dr. Meyers has successfully completed numerous advanced courses in ultrasound as well as echocardiography and gastrointestinal endoscopy. She has also been trained in eastern medicine and acupuncture and believes that acupuncture can complement traditional medicine in some areas, especially pain management.

Dr. Meyers graduated with honors from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Following veterinary school Dr. Meyers competed two prestigious internships. The first at Hagyard-Davidson-McGee in Lexington, Kentucky. The second at a renowned specialty practice outside of Washington D.C where Dr. Meyers learned from some of the best oncology, radiology, cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, and ophthalmology specialists in the country. After completion of her internship she was hired to work full time in the intensive care unit.

From 2005 until 2010 Dr. Meyers was a veterinarian along with Dr. Forward at arguably the finest animal hospital in Charlotte. There, Dr. Meyers and Dr. forward each came to admire the other’s skill and knowledge, and discovered their similar perspective in patient care, owner communication, and extensive training and knowledge.
